Home to one of Utah's largest herds, estimated to include around 700 horses, the Cedar Mountain Wilderness contains a total of 100,000 acres and is part of the over 109 million acre National Wilderness Preservation System. The Wild Horse travels across the Hastings Cutoff, a historic portion of the California Trail and the route used by the Donner-Reed party in 1846.
